Ashley’s work experience has focused on outpatient private practice in the community, working with children and adults in any environment in which they are looking to participate. Ashley has provided in-clinic, workplace, home, community, and school environment assessments and provided treatment in these areas to provide the most beneficial delivery model for the client. Ashley’s approach in services is to work as a team with their client, working together to obtain client goals and developing a therapeutic relationship where the client’s input and success is always prioritized.

Ashley will be introducing the role of Occupational Therapy to Align in the Cayman Islands. In this introduction, she hopes to expand on the community’s awareness of occupational therapy and its capabilities. Often, people think of occupational therapy as only working with children at school or adults in the workplace. However, occupational therapy goes beyond this.

Occupational therapy is a client-centred health profession concerned with promoting health and well-being through occupation. The primary goal of occupational therapy is to enable people to participate in the activities of everyday life. Occupational therapists achieve this outcome by working with people and communities to enhance their ability to engage in the occupations they want to, need to, or are expected to do, or by modifying the occupation or the environment to better support their occupational engagement (WFOT, 2012).

Ashley has a passion for working with clients and families to help each client participate in all of their desired areas of occupation. Some of her areas of expertise include:

- Functional Capacity Evaluations

- Concussion Management

- Office Ergonomics

- Workplace Evaluations

- Return to Work Rehabilitation

- Lifestyle Restoration

- Sensory Integration Therapy

- Visual Processing Therapy

- Toileting Support

Ashley is excited to be working with Align to continue delivering occupational therapy services to both children and adults within our community in the Cayman Islands.
